FYI until replaced - IMO it can be bypassed. It's a circuit that blocks coolant to the turbo until warm. Yes, mine has been gone since I bought the car. But my local SMOG (emissions testing facility) is telling me that it is part of the air injection system, even though I told them a million times ...

OK, since getting the 87 4ZC1-T back on the road, I have noticed a noise I don't much like. Scenario: Shifter in neutral, clutch engaged (pedal out), I hear a distinct whirring sound. Maybe power the fuel pump(s) direct in case they are not being kept on. Tried that. Wired 12v direct to the pump to keep it on. Same business. Just a quick update. I'm still stumped. Timing is good. Valve lash is good. Completely cleaned the fuel system. OEM FPR and damper installed. Changed the IAC again. Cleared the ECU. Same business.
