Okay, so I'm ready to burn my car. I sourced another complete mechanism, cable, motor and all. Put it in, it worked. I was chuffed, and started re-fitting the door trim. Used it for one day, aaaaand crack. New cable snapped. I'm at my wit's end with this stupid car, the aircon must be leaking too be...

Slight update of sorts, the crappy stock turbo manifold has cracked again. I've welded it up but the flange/gasket area still has a massive ridge in it from the crack, it's so uneven that it'd need to be removed, studs taken out, machined and re-fitted to have a hope of sealing - and then the manifo...

Ahh yes, cheers for the reply! I'll add o2 sensor to the list of things to check! I'm almost tempted to disconnect the knock sensor and tentatively run it and see if it changes anything - if it pings, I can back off straight away, but if it's the same then I can rule it out. Are o2 sensors fairly ge...

Power drops significantly at 4500rpm
Hey all, so I'm thinking of addressing a long-term issue of my car. I'd been ignoring it because I intend to go aftermarket EFI, but if it's a relatively simple fix, I'd love to get it sorted. The car has always done this, since I first put it together. Note that I bought the thing without an engine...

I might piggyback on this thread, since I'm having a semi-related issue and am after all mates with Vinnie and catch up regularly. My passenger window cable has frayed badly and stopped the window from going up or down. I've had to unbolt the window glass and duct tape it up in the short term. Does ...

Some progress at my end - Elky's selling me another centre which he's sure is really tight. I'll slap that in, and if it's not tight enough for my liking, I'll have my current centre looked at by some other places, and see if they can either modify it to shim up tighter, or make up a replacement ite...

See, I could rationalise the price of the Quaife if it'd fit, but I'm guessing it wouldn't. If axles had to be remade I could deal with it, but again I'd prefer not to. I really want to keep the original housing and brakes - being such a rare car, I want to leave the basic architecture the same (alt...

Alright, so what I'm thinking now is to examine a Jackaroo diff at the wreckers and consider suitability. Could the centres potentially be swapped, leaving the gearsets original? Ideally I'd love to bolt a Jackaroo LSD onto the Piazza crown/pinion. If this is vaguely possible, I'll need to measure t...

LSD shimmed, still sucks.
Hey all, So after searching half the country for an LSD, I realised my car already has one, but it was worn out. So, I ripped the banjo center out and took it down to my local reputable diff shop. The guy pulled the thing apart and attempted to shim it, but was only able to get 10thou in it and stil...

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated as always. Eyecon you have a PM about those springs! Ideally I'd like the top of the tyres to sit about level with the guards, or maybe have up to 10mm vertical clearance. I'm not super bothered by the legality because we can get these things approved if need...

Thanks for the info! They gave me this special bandage stuff and it's healed up real nice now, thankfully. I have news on the Piazza front! I finished the rust repairs/bogging/priming/painting, it came out quite nicely in the end. You can still see where I've bogged because I didn't use enough, so t...
