I don't think too many people run auto piazza engines! Say what? All I seem to find for wrecking is those goddam autos! The Piazza auto prop shaft length is 1830mm from diff flange to spline end. (It's ~1110mm from flange to centre-carrier bolt holes). The spline is the bigger spline - ie, ~39mm di...

And he has to clean up a bit - he's losing some real estate space.

The GMH Australian import figure of 200 is often quoted, but I reckon this is wrong by observation alone. My belief is 700 in total. This was 2 orders by GMH of 350 each, though GMH won't admit to the 2nd order. (Both were the '86 turbos; about 3 months apart.) Most or all of the 2nd batch were sent...

It seems that my info aligns with 117Coupe's - ie that Conero tuned (& advised) but did not "develop" (depending on your definition). My source (with a direct translation from Japanese) was that "Isuzu sent a finalised prototype engine to Conero" and "Conero tuned the en...

Ah - the line between advice & development...

Do you have any info on the extent of advice for the DOHC?

And what's the source of this info?

Thanx.

DOHC released before the SOHC

I see the ambiguity. I have info about the DOHC coming out BEFORE the SOHC, namely: SOHC - 69-73 Bellett 1600, 69-71 Bellett 1600 Sport & GT, 70-73 Bellett 1800 Sport & GT; Gemini 74 onwards; 81-82 Piazza XL/XJ. DOHC - 68-81 117, 69-73 Bellett 1600 GTR, 80-86 Gemini ZZ(R); 2L in 81-84 Piazza...

So did the G***W! This is very evident on the G161W from the Bellett GTRs and some 117s (I think).
I summary, all G's came from the early G.

Yep - Hylomar invented by Rolls Royce and used to enable the reuse of Spitfire etc head gaskets during WW2.
And Spitfires used petrol unlike jets that use pissweak kerosene. LOL.

Lucas! It's all in a name. Anything Lucas......!! I recently fitted a Pulsar N13 Bosch alternator with internal regulator to my G161-OHV Wasp. Yet I have always sworn against internal regs. Why? Lucas. They were the first and were farn hopeless. But things have changed over 30 years. I LUV the new a...

No argument from me Wedgy! I totally agree with what you have said - and sorry if anyone interpreted my blurb as suggesting bigger fuses - it was NOT intended that way! I too have seen people replace (house & car) fuses with aluminium- or tin-foil, or nails etc "to stop that annoying fuse b...

Too late - but FYI: Don't confuse a "75A" alternator with a battery's charging current. The 75A is what the alternator can supply and includes the car's electrical load. A battery would never take 75A, and charging more than about 7A long-term may damage it. (I think the general rule is 10...

G'dam it Bugle - you You-You! No-one upsets my round-tuit schedule! Grrr! Before I get to the ahead-of-schedule measurements that I just obtained from my cold, dark shed..... Yep - I reckon Piazza diffs would be compatible with the early Rodeos & Jackaroos (ie - 1984 to ~1988); their banjos are ...

Ditto.
And there are two pumps (adjacent to each other). The second may be a lower pressure return pump?

Thanks Wedgy & Bugle, I like scones but I get a bit sick of those dented or bruised ones. LOL I too think Commodore "big-fine" splines fit - RodeoBob has said something similar. One day I'll count & measure my splines. All I remember is 1" 10-tooth (course) for early clutch pl...

Aha! - not backyard replaceable. But good to hear the "irreplaceables" have been replaced - NICE to know. There is always a way! I'd prefer the machining for the circlip too - once done, always replaceable. As to welding, I think I'd prefer worn UJs - and they're dangerous enough. (Why do ...
