Good answer, I get what you're saying, I'll be sure to measure it all up when I get my head under there. If we could find a progressive spring with a similar average or maximum springrate and similar height to those ones I bought off of you, we'd be laughing. There's a good chance that Lachlan (Vinn...

I'll measure them when I re-measure my shocks. I'm hoping to do it soon (hell, I want my shocks, I've been waiting for them for ages) but I have three cars on the go at the moment! Main efforts have been to getting this running properly :) What kind of springrate were you thinking of going for? And ...

Oh - and glad you liked the FB video - it was super basic. I took some lengthier GoPro footage the other night, but yet to see the quality, GoPros don't like night time. Once I get the car properly sorted, I'm planning on doing a drift/grip video using at least one local track, and that'd be edited ...

Howdy - nah, just 8:1 CR, give or take a poofteenth after facing the head and changing to a 1.3mm head gasket. On the raised boost (13psi) the standard intercooler really can't cut the mustard and I believe inlet temps were causing pinging. Any more boost would require super-retarded timing and real...

Not sure if this will work, but here's a quick (and not very good) clip of the car on the road! You can hear the difference in sound over a standard car. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10152667052680903&set=o.268990573192935&type=2&theater ---- Essentially, the car is tuned for 98R...

Yeah, 10W40 is a bit lighter than I'd usually run, but they'd sold out of my usual stuff (I usually go 15W40 on a fresh engine, 20W50 on a slightly older engine). I believe turbos don't like heavier oils, but a replacement T28 is cheaper than a replacement crank, if push came to shove. Regardless, i...

The swaybar link bushes are fairly generic, I've used Gemini (I-mark) items. Do you know what's causing the leak on your trans/gearbox? If it's something like the seal on the output spline, or a loose drain plug, it could be an easy fix.

IT LIVES! Took it for a bit of a drive, everything seems good and the new power is nice! However the gauges are playing up. For some reason, since taking the head off, the temp gauge has fked itself and reads zero. I didn't unplug any of that, I just moved the inlet, so it must have damaged a wire s...

Super quick update - cheers for the above reply Peter, I understand and generally agree with the lot, however I've gone with my normal "over-engineering" ways. MLS head gasket is paid for and en route. I told the machine shop to just test my head - because I figured I could source a cheap ...

As always, thanks for the responses guys. Sounds like having the diff set up again is the go. 3.9 gearsets are too rare to waste with poor settings! I'm not sure I can afford new bearings etc right now, so I might have to put up with the old pegleg pirate for a little longer... I'm chuffed to hear t...

Could this be the simple solution to a complex problem? I bought an LSD from Elky which was in an auto Piazza, strangely enough, and he affirmed worked. Today I finally dig it up and clean it, and it turns out it's a 4.55:1 ratio. 41 to 9. A quick search suggests this is most likely an early 80s Jac...

Yeah, I've suffered the "low temp gauge" pre-failure before in Geminis. Of course the Piazza usually gives you that nice warning light for low coolant overflow/reservoir before the level becomes an issue, but in the case of things popping, no such luck. The overflow was still full, since t...

Not entirely... maybe 70% sure? Will wait til I get it home [on a trailer] and do a compression test... Guuuuhhhh. I swear I'm cursed. It'll get there I suppose. Was looking forward to enjoying it sooner, rather than later though. And christ knows I'm sick of that damned engine bay. Although I kinda...

Update. Blown head gasket. Was driving it home from the workshop and the temp gauge went up a bit. Pulled over to take a look and the coolant was low. Figured there must have been an air bubble before the thermostat or something, topped it up with a litre or so and continued on. Five minutes down th...
