Damnit wedgenut, its a flashlight, not a "torch". LOL. Anyway, thanks and yeah, I know I have my work cut out for me. And yes, I have a factory manual. There's just a lot of stuff I guess I don't understand well enough to sort out without explicit instructions. It doesn't help that I have ...

Thanks, guys. Yeah, I've been thinking about fuel. The previous owner installed an aftermarket FPR in there, have a look: http://www.isuzugeek.org/forumpics/impulse/89.jpg That's the Bosch FPR laying on the battery tray. What's killing me is the inconsistency of the problem. Someone on the Zone sugg...

OK, here is what I am thinking. There is no open vacuum of that size sucking air in. If that were the case, it should fire up EVERY SINGLE TIME I turn the key and idle at 3500 RPMs. Correct? Right now, I can get it to turn on and stay on about every tenth try. So for the remaining 9 tries, the car s...

OK boys, got the car timed and she starts. The timing is good. But I am having a problem where it will start and rev all the way up to 3500 and stay there. Sometimes it will just start and immediately die. I have fiddled with the idle set screw and the timing and it doesn't change anything. It is my...

OK lads, I got the valve cover off just now (please call it a "valve cover" for me and not a "cam cover" so I don't get confused with your slang, its a hood damnit, not a bonnet!!) LOL. Anyway, I guess the notch on the dizzy shaft is just that little raised line, right? As for th...

LOL. Good stuff. I do know a bit of slang from down under, having gone through a long ordeal of importing a stuffed up Ford Falcon. But these were some new ones to me. So, am I correct in assuming that 'skag' is a nice combination of "scum" and "bag"? So, for my crust, I sit in a...

Question about timing...

OK guys, I've just finished my mechanical restore, 4ZC1-T, full thread on the Zone here: http://www.isuzone.org/forums/showthread.php?p=312492#post312492 Last night I got everything hooked up, and tried for the first time to turn her over. She cranks good but no fire. So, I looked at the flow chart ...

Thanks for the info guys. Makes me feel better about not having this part in there. Now, here's another question. The power steering pump reservoir clearly says "power steering fluid only" while the manual clearly says "use only Dextron II" in the power steering. So which is it? ...

Thanks, eyecon. Very interesting infomation, as last night, I got a completely different description from the Isuzu Guru, Jerry Lemond. He said this: "THE WATER VALVE IS IN THERE TO KEEP THE WATER MOVING ON A HOT ENGINE SHUT DOWN, IT WORKS ON A HEAT/SIPHONING EFFECT TO HELP COOL THE TURBO ON A ...

Water Valve Asm. -

Hi folks! Its been a year and 5 months since I started the tear down of my 1987 Isuzu Impulse 2.0 Turbo RS. Yesterday I finished putting the last few bits together, and now it is time to solve a few final mysteries before I turn the key. One of the main things I found out when doing my rebuild, was ...
