I think I know the seal you mean and i thought it was just a wiper seal as well (no spring) Go along to your nearest Yamaha motorbike shop because they use the same seal on YZ250 kickstart shafts I'm sure. If you can buy one from a seal supplier they are only a few dollars but from a bike shop they are probably mega bucks but at least you can eyeball one as the yz250 is a very common bike so they should be ex stock

Thomas did you end up sorting this out? The Piazza im getting has a fucked rack and would probably need the same, havent looked at it properly. Ive got one sitting out the back [rack that is], how do i check if its any good?

Nah still haven't done anything about it yet, better do that soon!

If it's been cleaned up you can probably still check if it's been leaking by removing the white plastic cover on the pinion shaft, and seeing if there's any dirt and power steering fluid hanging around there
