New turbo would be a better idea.

Boost it too much and the EFI computer wont like it.

You just need a good oil that will last in a turbo motor.
You got an owners manual??? It has a chart in it about what oil and what climate.

I use 10W/30 Mobile 1 full synthetic in mine.
I see you're a member of Isuzone. Swing over there and search the old posts in the RWD section. I would suggest doing the same on this site.

Here is a common mod on the JR

Turbo-back exhaust will also do nicely.

There are some JI owners in your area.

An easy upgrade is swapping out the compressor housing and wheel from an '87-'88 IHI T-bird turbo.

I love the looks and attention the car gets from the local tuner scene...Its good to not drive a Honda :finga:

Suggestion? buy something else, they all leak oil, from the front and rear crank seal is more common than not, in fact if it didn't leak i would be worried there was no oil in the engine. How do you describe a noise accurately? One mans tick is another mans terrible knock. Tappet noise is common, especially at high mileage when all the rockers and shafts get worn, try adjusting them. Good practice to check from time to time anyway. Injectors make a ticking noise when they fire, you don't hear it when driving but is noticeable at idle and some can be noisier than others. apart from a cracked piston it could be alternator, water pump, belt idlers, distributor shaft and so it goes on and on. Get a good spanner man to have a listen.
