If it is a digital dash I haven't a clue but on analogue ones the voltmeter, temp and fuel gauge, taco etc share a power source so it isn't likely to be a fuse or diode if they are the only two not working. There is a resistor on the back of analogue units which I thought was only on the fuel gauge circuit but maybe the temp is on the downhill side of that and it is playing up. It's purpose I believe is to smooth out the signals from the tank unit to stop the needle dancing on corners and up and down hills etc.
Might just be a loose connector plug on the back of the cluster.

Just re read your question DUH! you didn't say they were not working, you said they wouldn't light up. So it is a digital and I haven't got a clue. going back to seep now
