Is this a Good Price?

Post by bjsiegz »

I've found a black Piazza Turbo 1986 model in really good condition with 160,000 kms on it, enthusiast owner being forced to sell by a fiance, it comes with 3000 dollars worth of parts (Body Panels, new in box Radiator, Starter Motor and Power Steering pump, spare digital dash and others.)

its 5999 and is being sold by a broker so a 3 year warranty is available.

How hard are parts to get for piazzas and how expensive?

Thanks for any help.

Sounds good mate.. Dont know about the price though but I wouldnt expect much less from a dealer/broker.

Its good that you can some spares with it and the spare dash is great.

Is it auto or manual? You wouldnt have to much fun in an auto. Also check for any oil leaks, check if the turbo charges fine without any rattling. Makes sure that you dont have smoke out of the excaust.

And if you get the car $5999 with 3 year warrenty well mate your pretty much secured..

160,000km's is not bad i'd guess it's on the original front balljoints still so they might need to be done within 40,000-50,000km's. Just check for rust in the usual places, especially under teh brake master cyl if it's been leaking.
Spare parts are a bonus always good to have spares some bits can be hard to find locally when you need them. Second hand parts usually don't cost too much and there's always people with parts cars lying around who can sell you stuff cheap rather than being ripped off by wreckers. Any new genuine Isuzu parts you need will cost a bit.

Those are the kind of prices Piazzas go for now. But if you really can get 3 years warrenty (hard to believe) with that price, I would take it!!

Nah thats the starting bid chris. The asking was $2500 and he stopped the auction early just shy of 2k.

*************************************************************

If its in micky mouse condition id say its worth it but that would depend on the fine print in the warranty.

The condition is everything. Original and well looked after with no broken stuff and things that dont work its worth paying the good money for if you got the $$ to spare. For that money no matter what the sweetner is, it would want to come with a RWC or what ever you need in you part of the country. If it were me id like it to be done at a third party mechanic. Not the dealers guy. At $180 a ball joint can you be sure its a propper RWC.

The bits are worth it too.

A lot of those dealer/broker warrantys arent much chop. They dont cover turbos on turbo cars. They only cover the car if its stock std, touch it and the warranty is void. Most of them you have to foot the bill for the repair and send the recipts off to claim the money back. So if you fix it your self with the bits that youve got your up shit creek. They want an ABN to book it too. Its handy if you have a mate thats got a workshop. Get him to book out the repairs and sort out a deal with him for the bits. Dont get caught as they are right onto it.

So read all the warranty fine print.

Cheers. Bob.

well i had a look at the warranty while i was there, the engine is covered for 800 as is the gearbox. most other parts (electrics, brakes etc) were only covered for 300 and the warranty is through a company outside of the dealer.

it didn't say anything else about the turbos or keeping the car stock but that wasn't the contract so maybe it is on there.

the only stuff that obviously needs repair is the handbrake which clicks up but doesn't hold and the rear bumper is cracked where someone backed into it the day it arrived at the broker.

And it isn't really a broker, they sell on consignment for privately owned cars.

Is that 800kms and 300kms???? Its hardly worth it. you could take it for an 800km test drive.

Id read the contract.

The handbrake will most likley be the ratchet pawl mounting is bent. They should fix that for the price, it would want to come with a RWC or Saftey cert or whatever you have there.

If he sells on consignment he must be a dealer or broker and have an LMCT number. He would have to to deal with the warranty mob.

Cheers. Bob.
