Take the cam cover off for a kick off and remove spark plugs.Rotate the engine until cyl's 1 and 4 are at top dead centre, check this with a probe down the plug hole (carefully) and also look at the timing marks on the front pulley to make sure it is bang on. Then look at the cams and see what posit...

You may very well be correct. I have quite a few rear motors and I grabbed one for illlustration purposes and it COULD have been messed with before. As I think I said earlier, whenh you switch off the wiper normally it will park where it is meant to. Unfortunately when you have a bare motor in your ...

It is a standard metric seal 24 x 40 x 7 available from almost any bearing supplier for only a few shekels. You will probably notice a difference with one fitted LOL

As previously mentioned the track width will alter with suspension arm angle. Narrowest track width is with car off the ground and wheels hanging at full extension. Conversely the widest track width is with maximum load on the front suspension. To give you some idea, I fitted 7" mags with a sli...

The JDM models (up to 1986 at least) didn't have water cooled turbos and yes coking is a problem but a $30 turbo timer sorts out that issue very easily. I usually have mine set at 1 minute for normal use and step up to 3 mins if been thrashed. Last time I had it off to replace the bushes and rings i...

HOLD EVERYTHING< put you crook..a bit. Let me explain. When you have the ignition on and you switch off your wiper it will continue the sweep until it gets to the park position, IF however you turn off the ignition with the wiper still on the wiper stops immediately exactly where it is which may be ...

Thanks guys, it's no big thing, I have a couple of things to say 1. Double check operation BEFORE fitting the arm to ensure it is parking at the end of the up stroke, just in case I got my clockwise and anti-clockwise all topsy turvy upside downy. I am very very old and have been wrong in the past.....

Rear wiper park position change

For those that convert to the two or three leg high spoiler it is worthwhile changing the wiper arm park position. It is not a difficult job but you do have to remove the wiper motor from the car. That is fairly straightforward so I won't cover the removal job. Once you have it on the bench remove t...

Honestly it easier than you would think, you don't have to count teeth or guess or bugger about, it is indexed. It is years since I did one and can't recall if it has two positions or four, either way if you want to count your feet for the next 24 hours I will dig one out of my cave and open it up a...

it is as easy as an easy thing on an easy day in an easy world, this means it is probably way beyond the skill level of most auto sparkies. You are correct, I think I did cover it somewhere and may even have posted step by step and maybe even pictures.

Have you used the rear wiper yet? On the cars with no spoiler at all or the silly rubber one the wiper stops with the blade parallel to the bottom of the glass. In other words horizontal. On the cars with the two or three leg spoiler the blade is supposed to stop parallel to the side of the glass on...

Right o, seeing as how you are going to investigate everything, you already know about where the cam cover goes over the front bearing but it would also pay to check they put sealant on the joint between the cam cap and the head. Oil can weep through there as well. Especially as there is a little ga...
