To fill or not to fill?

Began some bodywork today, starting with the bumpers.

Whos for filling the seam and whos against it?

I think filling it will give it a smoother, one piece look, and its a very small amount so it wont crack. Anyone?

I filled it on my original bumper but didnt get around to painting it before I found the jap one.

I reckon it'd look better with it smoothed. It's not like it actually lines up with any seam/line on the body I can't see why they put ti there in the first place.

I think i might actually fill them, as soon as i get around to sorting out this plastic primer issue. The plastic primer ive got just runs/doesnt soak in/forms pools on the surface no matter how light you apply it. Any ideas?

yeah fill the lines in. it makes the car looks heaps better and it dosen't take to much longer to do when you are already doing body work

Dunno about primer, I didn't have any problems painting mine with regular etch primer but it's some different kind of plastic to your one..

Another thing you could do is move the parkers/indicators to the other spot. You've got the cutout in the lip as a guide as to where they should be. RB Gemini ones are the right size I believe. But the parkers are clear not orange.

Sounds like someone has used that silicone shit to polish the bumper at some point. It gets into the surface and it is hard to get rid of. Talk to a paint shop about getting something to cut through it and etch the bumper first. Prepsol might do it. Or a gas torch!

They are pretty hard plastic so id rekon that just normal primer would be fine. The bits you may have drama painting will be the spoilers. The rear one is a soft shitty thing. I rekon it will do all sorts of weird shit when you try and paint it.
