Distributor cap and Rotor button cheaper alternative

Ive found a much cheaper alternative to the Piazza distributor cap.
I was fitting up a 4ZB1 1.8L to a shuttle it shares the same mounting for the cap and the same rotor button.
The cap is a Bosch GD682
The Rotor is a Bosch GD688
I cant find the Invoice, lol. The whole lot cost under $30
:edit: found the invoice. Cap RRP $22.45, Rotor RRP $8.20

I removed the dizzy from my spare Piazza and put it in a line up.
Heres the B1 and Piazza dizzys looking from the top.

Its the same mounting for the cap and the rotor, i bolted the cap on and it fitted like it was meant to, unfortunatley i forgot to take a happy snap. There is plenty of room in the Piazzas engine bay to run the conventional type cap, theres actually more room in there than there is in a shuttle.

i just got both the rotor and cap today but the cap seems to be timed differently,
Bob, did you have to reset the timing to run this cap?

Havent "run" it. Well i have on a shuttle motor coz the new cap is on the 4ZB1 motor in my ute. My spare Piazza had no cap on it so i pulled the dizzy out of it. I didnt compare it to the Piazza cap, just compared the dizzys and put it on the dizzy and it fitted.

By timed differently do you mean the No 1 lead is in the wrong spot??? Or do you mean the 90 degree spacings for the leads are off buy a few degrees???

If your just changing the cap and the spacings etc are the same id still put a timing light on it anyway.

Grab a timing light and time it up, if thats all youve got to do to save over $100 thats easy money.

Like i said you might need new longer plug leads as well.

it all fits up buyt the no 1 plug lead is wrong, got past that but i also have to do the timing as it is retarded alot, will do the timing 2 morrow as i have to go buy a timing light

$184 could be the difference between a car getting fixed or wrecked.
