Basically, my turbos fucked. I need to replace the seal on the compressor cover [i think its actually called the Main housing seal?] so what i guess i need is the following:

Anyone changed it before? If so how hard?
Price of seal for IHI RBH5? Places where i can get it from?
Factory disassembled diagrams like the one Bugle showed of the shifter?

How about a Bob dissasembled turbo in a plastic bag in my spare car. The one with the broken shaft that was on my car when i got it.

It shouldnt be too hard to change that seal but if i remember right the inside of the turbo is a complicated thing with screws holding shit on etc.

Theres a Turbo joint in Airport West, cant remember the blokes name to talk too, i will ask my mate tomorrow.

Bob.

There was an RHB5 rebuild kit on eBay in the US for US$80. I emailed the seller about the suitability for a Impulse 4ZC1-T and postage.

Ive got my suspicions that the turbo we got had 5 bolts to hold the dump pipe on. The pics ive seen of the US turbo it only has 4. I could be mistaken and i will check my turbos tomorrow.

Heres a pic of the kit

Heres another kit i found thats loose. It said it was for a Mazda i think.

Looks like the same thing.
If memory serves its the same as the bits ive got in the bag, but not gunked up with black shit and flogged out.

If you pull it apart Nick take special care. The nut on the comp wheel is LH thread if memory serves me right.

Cheers. Bob.

Acording to listings at palses that sell rebuild sets, the set for the JR's are the same as the set for the T-Birds and Mazdas so those should fit.

Here is a write up on rebuilding the turbo, but pics are missing.
