Working under the dash is the worst part to work on.. Have fun adjusting the clutch push rod once it's all installed and put back together :)

i have installed all the pedal box and gear that i need for the conversion and have removed all the automatic gear from my car.

Small problem that has brought my conversion to a complete stop is the automatic's pilot bearing connected to the back of the engine behind the fly wheel, The damn thing is jammed on. Any suggestions on removing the sucker?? it has a lip inside so my only thought is with a slide hammer?? need to get my hands on one tho.

Take care with that. Ive got a 2.6L motor here that i bought to suit rebuild that i put away in disgust with the defiant spigiot bush still attached. I damn nead wrecked my slide hammer trying to get it out.

I thought it best left for another day after id had the time to nut out a puller or special tool for the job.

Cheers. Bob.

good trick for spickot bearings... i think this is what you guys are talking about, is to get a piece of steel lathed down to fit perfectly inside your spickot bearings inner race (take a new spickot and a lump of steel to an engineer $20 maximum)

then, start pumping grease in inside race so that it fills the area behing the bearing, until you cannot get any more in there, then:

insert the piece of steel thru the bearing against the grease and give it a good bash with a hammer, the grease has nowhere to go and does not compress so it forces the bearing out

if all else fails, destroy inner race of the bearing to leave only the outer stuck in the crank, run a smal bead of weld inside the outer race (be careful!!!) and this will shrink the bearing\]

hope this helps

thanks guy's i got it off!! finally

a home made slide hammer did the trick built buy my uncle, it was made with a solid bar of metal with a welded lip to catch inside the bearing and the head of a sledge hammer over the bar and a metal pin in the other end of the metal bar to slam the sledge hammer against did the trick.

i will post a pic of this tool and some other pics of my progress along the way!!
