Boost!!

Post by Rick82 »

ive just connected my boost gauge and im a little concerned, i have a dual stage boost controller installed and a BOV. No matter wether the boost controller is clossed or open or copletly removed the car only boosts to about 5 PSI. i have the standard exhaust system which might have some holes could that make a difference?? or could it be a shit brand boost guage??

Could be a number of things.

-Faulty boost gauge?
-Gauge not connected properly?
-Gauge vac/boost line is crimped or squashed?
-Boost controller not connected properly?
-Boost leak [intercooler pipes?]
-Factory overboost valve on plenum is leaking boost?

Does the car go harder when you boost it?

I had that problem with my original turbo was fine with the new one so I assume it was the spring in the wastegate actuator gone soft.

wot bugle said. Un hook it and see how that works. Should boost up pretty high and make the motor ping its tits off.

The reason the spring could be stuffed is that it holds till boost pressure then the electronic boost over ride (the cable that hooks to the wastegate lever) can override it. That will compress the spring hence if you compress a spring repeatedly over and over it can weaken.
