Tremors at speed

Post by mauriziomerli »

Hello.

I have a 1987 UK spec non Lotus Turbo.

It has a serious problem with judder and vibration over 50 MPH. You can feel it very strongly through the steering wheel and the whole car will shake the faster you go.

So far I've had the wheels and tyres checked...fine.
Not the rack bushes. No play when you shake them

I also get nasty kickback through turns, but I've put this down to absolutely shagged ARB bushes....got some Mk2 astra droplinks turned down with some of Witor's polybushes and this will hopefully cure that little problem.

Any ideas?
On the scale of one to ten, it was a fourty - nine.... (Mission Of Burma)

Common reasons for your symptom

Even though you can feel it through the steering it may not be related to the front end at all. The shake like a bastard if the rear gearbox mount lets go and that is quite common, if oil soaked it may not even have let go but could be all soft and spongy. best you check your prop shaft UJ"s as well. Either of these will display the symptom and they do get worse with speed

Have you checked the lower balljoints??? These were soft in the Piazza and chew out quickly.
