A memorable day

Post by wedgenut » Fri Jul 24, 2015 6:26 am

First up I confess to not being as active on this forum in recent times, there are a variety of reasons for this but I have not lost the faith. Despite reducing the fleet size and no longer actively hunting out or stocking more new and used parts I still have two cars and drive them regularly and continue to have an interest in all things Piazza.

Very recently I visited the UK for a family event and planned to take this opportunity to again meet up with a couple of Piazza associates in the mother country. One thing led to another and the outcome was an amazing experience for me.

The 18th of July 2015 will remain as a red letter day in my life where a number of Piazza owners from all over the UK made a very special effort to cover in most cases quite long distances to meet with myself and each other in Solihull in the West Midlands. Their cars were a credit to them and as I have always found with Piazza owners, a better bunch of people would be hard to find. A suitable venue was quite hard to find but in the end we met up at the Wythall Transport Museum. It is an organisation that specialises in Classic Buses and Coaches of the Midlands region. The folks there were fantastic after paying the normal very modest entry fee, in allowing us to gain entry, free of charge, beyond the public car park to their inner courtyard and to give us a very spacious area to display the cars that attended. I highly recommend a visit to this extremely interesting and historic location. It is entirely managed and run by volunteers so if anyone is visiting the UK help them out by paying a visit and giving a donation. They very much need the help and richly deserve this plug.

I hope you find the attached images interesting and as one of the attendees is in the motoring media I expect we will hear more of this small but memorable event.

I was even physically assaulted by a large Romanian past Piazza owner with a vicegrip handshake whom I have known previously only by the magic of the world wide web for many years. I think you will agree that is a damn good effort. He does live and work in the UK now but I was still impressed. Thanks Alin

The perfect venue as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for sharing.
