Oh
big question this one.
Some say after the cooler before the throttle butterfly and some say before the intercooler close to the turbo.
Different reasons why but I hav put mine close to the butterfly on the bit where the pipe just starts to kink back towards the front of the car. mine is a welded in adaptor I did myself.
If you want a cheaper way of doing it make a 't' piece to fit in the corrugated tubes at the front of the car and put it in there. then you could try both ways to see which is best for you.
I will get a pick of mine tomorrow and post it on here.

I'm not an expert on BOV's by any means but here is what I know (or think I know)
With a standard turbo set up you probably won't get any real benefit from it except to make farting noises between gears. If you run higher pressures it can help in theory by reducing lag but it is a fine balance between that and extra stress to the engine. The sudden pressure changes can be a problem and in some cases the odd broken piston can result. Forged psitons might eliminate that but where do you stop with the spending.
You are doing the right thing, ask for every opinion you can get and tap into those that have actually fitted one and get their input. You will probably get equal measures of for and against.
I take the view that if they needed them the factory would fit them so put me in the against camp.
That should get a response from the "fors" LOL

Here is a quote from Autospeed:
"We've tested one on a manual gearbox performance car run at Winton Raceway. I think it was running 1 minute 40s back then, but it would lose
2 seconds a lap putting the gobble-gobble valve on. When you look at data acquisition, what you find is - as you change gear - the blow-off valve
dumps all the pressure built up through the intercooler and pipes. It then goes back to zero manifold vacuum when you get back on the throttle,
you have to build all that boost back up."
Actualy this is the only place I've seen actual numbers on the performance difference with/without a BOV. Anybody know off others?
Using one does save your turbo from stress when letting off.

ohk yeh well i recon ill need a picture to install it cos i knew that the turbo does need one in my view, cos of the pressure intake, ive seen a subaru running 14psi without a blow off valve and he was running less times then the same model and everything, except this had a BOV.
cheers

Made out of 2.25 inch mild steel exhaust pipe, and a piece of 1.26 inch pipe.
Might make the things for like $30-$40 cant remember what the materials cost. Found some of that wrinkle black paint now too make it look factory.. What BOV are you going to fit? One with a hose attachment is easiest to fit and make an adaptor for.

Don't have any pics of the car before I disasembled it (pic's where taken, but sortly after I bought digital camera, and they newer were prosessed) The cars look the same as yours, exsept the 88-89 mod missing the tail garnish and have the newer tail lights (still retained pre 88 rear "wing" and hood w/lids") as far as I have seen all turbo have the large front lights while NA have quad square lights.Chris wrote:Greetings tommy, you should let us check out your ride sometime. Mine's an 87 mod. Red turbo manual.
Strange thing here in Norway, if you have a cars reg number or chasi number, then you can get the name and adress off the owner. But the rules don't lett them tell me how many Piazza's that are curently registered

Gestimate puts it at 30 to 40 cars max.
Tommy
Same in NZ, a few dollars at the post office gets you current owner name and address. $25.00 to a specialist research site designed to help buyers of used cars gets you full vehicle history including any insurance work for accidents and details of all owners, mileage history at all fitness inspections etc. All you need is the rego or Vin number, and the money of course. It is done on line with credit card or over the phone and charged back to your phone bill.
All we can check is if the vehicle has money owing on it or if its stolen. Its invasion of privacy other wise. Im not sure but it may be possible to check if the vehicle was on the WOVR (Written Off Vehicle Register). Theres two types, Statuatory write off. Cant ever be registered again, im sure this can be checked. and Repairable write off. Doccumented repair process, Parts invoices etc must be presented for inspection with the vehicle for reregistration for vehicles newer than 15yo. Id like to be able to find out if i was buying one of these.
Its something that was bought in nationaly to stop the rebirthing of stolen cars.
If you have the owners name you can check if it currently registered. You need the name. I rang once, a wog guy i worked for was famous for writing cheques for his trucks regos, getting the recipted rego label and then cancelling the cheque. Its the drivers fault if hes driving an unregoed vehicle, a few of his drivers got done. I rang to check on my truck and the woman wouldnt give me a yay or nay because i didnt know the name the vehicle was registered in. I promptly asked her for her name and told her that if i got done for an unregoed vehicle that she would have the fine sent to her. She told me the rego was current. Seems silly to me the guy was worth at least 5 million. Freakin wogs and their cash and their swearing in greek. lol. (no offence intended to any of our members of greek heratige, i like my cash too. lol.)
Cheers. Bob.
