i have just started to have this problem with my piazza, every time i put my foot on the clutch after driving the revs stay up around the 1500rpm mark, sometimes higher and sometimes lower, but if i just pump the accelerator the revs return back to 800, at first i though the butterfly was sticling a little but i lube it all up and it is still doing it, any idea's on what it is and most of all how to fix it, i have been learning how to brake while pumping the accelerator to stop and it is quite annoying
cheers Brendan
car idle
Unreliable idle is common enough and sometimes can be fixed with a good carb cleaning fluid sprayed around the inside and outside of the throttle body. It is a bit catch 22 if the spindles are worn. Any wear can set in a pattern and the butterfly valves may not close properly sometimes, OR the spindles are gummed up. Cleaning with the right stuff will remove the gum but then you might get a bit of an air leak which can cause the same symptom. Carb clean is cheap so try that first. If it is still variable attach a light spring to assist return. If none of that fixes it check for slop in the spindles. It can be fixed by removing the spindles and reaming the holes and fitting bushes on the spindles. Someone said in another post all Piazza owners need a lathe....I have the same problem with mine and I have a lathe but am also very lazy. Mine did improve with a clean up
Yeah well cleaning it may have taken out the gunge and the worn parts aren't always sitting in the same place when it closes, try the spring thing and check for play, or see if you can move the spindles latterly without actually opening the throttle while it is running and see if the revs fluctuate. If they do you have an airleak. fix the play or get a less worn throttle body.
